Descend 200s with active rest. Another good practice if you're prepping for the One Hour Swim.
This week's set will help Masters swimmers prepare for the One Hour Swim postal event taking place during the month of January.
What are you doing New Year's Day or New Year's Eve. Swimming, of course!
Mellow 400s today, interspersed with 75s that get faster throughout the set.
Got a late-season Ironman or Half IM or open-water swim coming up? This week's set will help you hone many important open-water skills while getting in some yardage and having fun.
This week's set comes from Ron "Sickie" Marcikic at UC-San Diego Masters.
Our Masters team did a big set on New Year's Day (100 swims on 1:15), so today was a recovery day with no sendoffs and lots of swimming with FINS
This week's set is a continuation of our set from October 15, 2010. Everyone on the team goes on the same sendoff. The set generates a certain amount of nervous energy (the good kind) throughout because no one knows exactly how s/he will perform on each segment. Effort level ranges from aerobic to very anaerobic.
There's no better way to honor Fran Crippen this week than to swim one of his distance sets.
Long set, best done in a 25-yard or 25-meter pool. Everybody on the team goes on the same sendoff.
Recovery turned into just a bit more intensity than we planned, but it's fun going faster when you decide it's OK.
There are many ways to get ready for a long open-water swim when you don't have access to open water.
Just got back from coaching Masters. This was definitely the favorite set of the week.
We are a group of swimmers who swim really fast, and like to help others learn how to reach their competitive potential in the area of professional swimming.
